Ashton’s »Virgin Sun Grown«, also known as »VSG«, is produced by Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia for Ashton. Its hallmark is dark, oily Sumatra-seed wrappers from Ecuador, encasing a robust blend of aged Dominican tobaccos. The leaves for these cigars are grown in the cloud-covered foothills of the Andes. Fuente selects the leaves that grow near the top of the Sumatra-seed plants and ferments them to extract the oils and intensify their color. The result is a bold, oily, flavor-packed leaf that invigorates the palate with an explosion of undeniable power.
This cigar brings together three of the most renowned families in the cigar world: the Olivas from Tampa, the Levins from Philadelphia, and the Fuentes from the Dominican Republic. When »VSG« was released in 1999, it was one of the strongest cigars on the market, setting off a trend. Today, the selection of bold cigars is much larger, but »VSG« remains remarkable for its rich character and focused flavor.
