The glass mural “Tabaco Sagrado” (Sacred Tobacco) by Honduran artist Regina Aguilar was awarded Outstanding Art 2025 by Cigar Journal during InterTabac 2025. The piece was created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Maya Selva Cigars and the opening of the Fábrica de Puros MSC in Danlí, Honduras.
The radiant mural, which adorns the entrance of the cigar factory, appears to capture the aromatic smoke of tobacco within glass — a symbol of an ancient and noble culture. To achieve this, Aguilar fused real tobacco leaves of various types with glass at around 800°C, complemented by gold and silver leaf and fine glass enamel. The result is a unique work of art that unites tradition, craftsmanship, and contemporary expression — a tribute to the magic of tobacco and the creative spirit of Latin America.
